Thanks to my husband, I discovered Scott Walker (the musician, not the governor) last year. His solo stuff is jaw-droppingly dark, so naturally I became obsessed.

I wrote an essay linking his haunting themes with my creative ambitions, which proved to be a hard sell. I plugged away, receiving some mighty fine rejection letters but no cigars, until I sent it to Across the Margin. You can read the essay — “Halo of Locusts” — here, which includes links to a handful of choice songs.

I’m really quite proud of this one and I’m bouncing in my seat. I hope you enjoy!

Su Orwell (me!) is back with an erotic chapbook, Escape Artists. Thank you, Black Scat Books!

You may remember Su from such erotic fiction stories as Filling Pies with Cream, which came out earlier this year. The publisher, Mr. Pell, enjoyed the story so much he asked me to write for their Pocket Erotica series.

It’s not easy writing smutty humor but I’m really proud at how this turned out, especially my filthy Magritte joke. Special shoutout to my betas and The Screaming Peens for our priceless discussions!

ESCAPE ARTISTS is the story of a married woman, Susann, who encounters the charismatic Arjan online. What begins as an internet flirtation soon evolves into an unusual affair — a fantasy escape becomes a reality of intense pleasure, taking Susann far from her suburban comfort zone.
